The Voice of the Lord
I often hear people say, God never speaks to me. I never hear from Him.
I would like to give you some hopefully helpful tips. I assure you, He does speak and He wants to speak personally to you.
Firstly, you would be surprised if you would set aside a deliberate period of time, to where it’s just you and the Lord. Let Him know – I value You enough to have a time where it’s just You and me Lord. A time of peace and quiet and intimacy, where you have fellowship, and He talks to you and you can hear from Him. And you can share with Him the things on your heart also.
Secondly, if you live in a busy household, those in your home should respect you enough to when you say “I am going into my room; I’ll be out in a little while.” They respect your time and privacy, and they don’t need to know what you were doing. They simply honor you and you honor them.
Thirdly, go into your quiet place; put on your tallit if you have one, and if you feel it helps you to create that sanctuary and to where you block out all distractions and you simply worship and have a private time with the Lord. He will speak! It may take a few times, but be sure to allow time where you just listen with your spirit for that still small voice.
The prophet Elijah was running in fear and hiding in a cave and the Lord had a Word for Elijah. There was a strong wind but the Lord wasn’t in the wind. Then there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. After that there was a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. It's hard to hear from the Lord in the midst of noise and chaos. But after the fire, a still small voice. Elijah stood before the Lord uninhibited by distractions around him, and the Lord spoke in a quiet, yet strong and tender voice.
You are important to the Lord and He will speak to you. Are you making a time and a place for you to hear as He speaks?
